“Carroll Gardens once was an Italian-American enclave, and while some residents are flocking to church, the yogis flock to Lesley Desaulniers’ 10 am class…”
- Marie Carter for YogaCityNYC
“Lesley’s unique blend of wisdom and humor haveopened me up to the higher teachings of yoga that have completely transformed who I am as a person. She is able to translate the teachings and bring them down to earth, thus allowing her students access to great wisdom.
-Lisa Benger LCSW

- Lesley Alderman, writer, NY Times and Real simple Magazine
For anyone in New York City, her class is a must: it is an incredible gift to have access to a teacher such as Lesley.”

“Lesley Desaulniers changes lives. In the 5 years that I have worked with Lesley, I have rediscovered a sense of self, am in better shape than I was 10 years ago, and learned to wake up welcoming my day. Lesley has also guided me through retiring after 30 years, and I look forward to learning from her for many years.”

yoga at 645 with my dear lovely teacher Lesley D. Just when I think I have got her teachings pegged…she mixes stuff up and blows my mind. like, constantly. Maybe it’s cause she seems to have this gift of being so relatable I forget she’s not just a wonderful personable friend but a total GURU. today she talked about using the senses outwardly, with sight, sound, touch…and that in our yoga practice it all comes around in a circle, birnging us to peer deeper within. sat guru, the true guru is within. guru translates to gu = darkness (like goo!) and ru = remover. so the guru is a remover of darkness. what’s beautiful is that this means that guru doesn’t necessarily mean a spiritual teacher, or even a human. and on top of that the remover of darkness can be something easy and wonderful to deal with OR it can be a hard lesson, something difficult. - Carol Tessitore for Socialworkout.com
” Ten years of yoga were already under my belt, yet without Lesley, I know that my practice would not have evolved in the way it has in our time together. My body is more steady and graceful on the mat, my flexibility grew by leaps, and poses have fallen into place. Most rewardingly, I am increasingly able to take my yoga off the mat and bring steady breathing, a calm head and an open heart into my daily life”.
Leslie Stone, Creator of The Devilish Egg
“Working privately with Lesley has allowed me to not only strengthen my yoga practice, but has also enabled me to take my yoga practice off the mat and into my life.”
Lesley’s style is empathetic and supportive, allowing me to experience the practice much more deeply, at the same time as accepting what comes up both on and off the mat. Through our private lessons, she has helped me through major changes in my life as well as through some major career milestones. Working with Lesley has taught me to focus on what is really meaningful and to find the action in things, as opposed to expending energy on fruitless efforts or thoughts.
She has taught me to be compassionate with myself which has really enhanced the way I experience all of the important relationships and interactions in my life. In summary, working with Lesley has totally enhanced my capacity for positive thinking which made my life much fuller and happier! ”
Grainne McNamara, Managing Director, Morgan Stanley NYC
My prenatal lessons with Lesley were invaluable throughout every trimester of Pregnancy. In my first trimester, the gentle practice Lesley led me through was often the only movement I had during weeks of morning sickness and made me feel like I could do something other than curl up on my couch. In my second trimester, she helped me celebrate feeling energetic again with a more vigorous practice and in my third trimester, she led me through poses to prepare for labor and restore the muscles that supported my growing belly. My practice always felt safe and supported and every week she helped me stay calm, strong and healthy during a time of immense change, beauty and meaning in my life.
